- Throughout practice and residency maintenance of interest, training and expertise in psychopharmacological management of psychiatric illness including mood disorders, anxiety disorders and ADHD. Providing psychopharmacological interventions in high acuity and low acuity settings.
- Addiction medicine and management of cooccurring disorders. Throughout training and practice development of interest and skills in the management of substance use disorders and especially when cooccurring with psychiatric illness, maintenance of expertise in psychopharmacology management of substance use disorders including buprenorphine maintenance, management of substance use disorders in the acute inpatient setting including detoxification as recently as 2021, and ongoing outpatient management of substance use disorders, expertise in use of motivational interviewing.
- Consultation-liaison psychiatry. Maintenance of interest and expertise in the management of psychiatric illness in the medically unwell patient and those with psychiatric illness, substance use disorders and medical illness. Special interest in the most complex patients with chronic illness such as chronic pain and substance use disorders.
- Inpatient psychiatry. Maintenance of skills in the acute inpatient psychiatric and detoxification settings with experience throughout career and most recently Colorado between 2005 and 2021.

Early interest in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and then development throughout career in evidence-based psychotherapies including cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. Interest in providing psychological interventions in all treatment settings including inpatient and outpatient care.

Maintenance of excitement, interest and expertise in collaborative work with allied health professionals including advanced practice psychiatric nurses, physician assistants, psychotherapists and intensive case managers in the inpatient and outpatient settings, history of physician agreements with nurse practitioners and early post graduate physician assistants.
